Seams and Sprinkles

A sweet and fashionable life, one post at a time.

Cupcakes are Muffins that Believed in Miracles

As a child, I was adorned with the nickname "Muffinhead" by my grandfather. He said my head just looked like a little muffin top. If you have ever seen my hair I am sure you can imagine how it must have been as a kid and back then it was also so curly sometimes it had to be cut to be brushed. This nickname stuck throughout my life and never bothered or embarrassed me; I always thought it was so cute and happy. I would get gift certificates to massages and whathaveyou for my birthdays with that name and the folks were always tickled when I came in to redeem my coupon! I would always hear things like, "Oh, you are Muffinhead!" Again, never once embarrassed by that! As I got older my grandpa decided that just "Muffin" was more suited for a young adult and that was what he always called me up until the last time I saw him before he passed away this February.

Whenever I see this quote, "Cupcakes are Muffins that Believed in Miracles" it makes me think of him, his special nickname for me and all that I have gone through in my life that I think fits my journey so well in this cheery line. So I would like to dedicate this post to him and celebrate his belief in me so that I could one day become a cupcake if I just kept believing in the miracle of life; even though I wanted to give up many times along the way! He also always used to recite the Don't Quit poem to me anytime I had a moment of wanting to give up during those tough times. Thanks for always being there for me, grandpa and helping me make sure I never quit.

I hope you enjoy this outfit inspired by these sweet memories and you remember not to quit so those miracles can come true for you my sweet muffins!

This cupcake skirt with amazing pockets can be found on Unique Vintage and is paired with a plain black button up cardigan, black t-strap heels and white wicker purse. The outfit is so fun and a great way to make sure I keep all these memories fresh in my mind each time I wear it. Do you have a childhood nickname or memory like the one above? Throw it down in the comments; I would love to give it a read!

Unicorns, Sprinkles and Cupcakes... Oh My!

The funny thing about that title is that the dress I am sharing today has all of these things and more, and I know you are not surprised, but it is also my favorite color... Barbie pink!! This dress gave me the hookup, holla' if ya' hear me *uhhhhhhh*. Even better, I was able to pair it with sparkly shoes AND a cupcake purse. I know, I am pinching you right now because you are actually not dreaming.

It is Friday and I think this outfit is fitting for preparing for a magical weekend ahead so I thought I would go ahead and just share it with you to get some fun started up in here, up in here!

So you can see I have my gorgeous (must-have) Hell Bunny pink unicorn and cupcake dress paired with silver t-strap sparkle heels and a too-cute-for-words cupcake purse, both from Unique Vintage. No vintage-inspired look is complete without my great grandmother's pearls and some whipped up victory rolls. I remember when I first tried this hairstyle for my engagement shoot many moons ago and it is nice how much easier they are to do now than when I first started. So if it looks daunting, don't worry, give it whirl and know that practice does make perfect or at least easier.

I hope you enjoy this outfit combination as much as I do, and even if you don't like this print, maybe this will inspire you to venture out a little with some fun print you normally wouldn't wear! Who knows, you may be brave from now on once you try your first crazy print, I know I certainly am now.

So, here I go jumping into the weekend, ready to sparkle, unicorn and cupcake the heck out of it! Please share one thing you are doing this weekend with me below.

No Excuses: 6 Week Slimdown by Foxie Fitness

Am I the only one who never quite got a summer body and now summer has come and passed by? I don't know what the heck happened. I even teamed up to try a mini Biggest Loser far that has also been zero percent motivation for me either. I was just feeling like I don't know what the heck to do anymore. I feel so hopeless sometimes when it comes to fitness and eating better because it seems hard, that is until I heard my friend Rebecca Fox had a simple solution for me that requires no thinking just action!

Finally, someone has laid it all out in several ways for me and I am set up with no excuses just a simple method to follow. I am not good at these things unless they are spelled out; really and truly. I am easily bored by workouts and would much rather eat ice cream and watch Disney movies, but I have to say these workouts created by Rebecca that you do at home in a jiffy are right up my alley! She is great about offering a helping hand if you have additional questions and really making you feel supported through your fitness journey. I love that her aim is to help women feel more empowered and confident in themselves.

Not only have I learned a lot by doing her simple workouts before, I have also enjoyed her additional resources on her website as a well as her quick check-in ideas through Instagram. Like did you know that you need to warm up your glutes before you start working them out? I had no idea and no wonder the target workouts I was doing had not been yielding the best results! Knowledge is power and if you don't like working out like me, then we certainly need to work smarter and not harder.

I swear you are just going to love Rebecca if you try her out, so are you with me? Then let's stop making excuses and start this fitness journey! You can purchase the plan on Rebecca's Foxie Fitness page here:

Thank you again for all your help, support and motivation. You are the best, Rebecca! Feel free to check out her Instagram, Facebook or website for more information or to connect with her. I am sure she would love to hear from you and answer those confusing fitness and nutrition questions you have.

I hope you all enjoy the program and please comment with any additional suggestions if you have them. Keep progressing towards your fitness goals, my friends and let's start this next week out strong (see what I did there)!

Here's your Romper-tunity to Get Ready to go Somewhere!

Happy September to each of you. I keep telling my husband that I feel like we were just ringing in the New Year yesterday... where does the time go? For us, we continue to have heat waves in the area, so I am not quite sure I am feeling like fall is actually around the corner just yet. I am still rocking the summer outfits even though I am more than ready to adorn my body with boots and scarves! The weather is just currently fighting me on this one.

Since it is a holiday weekend, I figured why not share an easy outfit to keep you cool but also feeling ready to have a little bit of fun. It doesn't require too much and when you just slip it on and head out the door, how can you turn down your friends and family who still want to party while you have the long weekend ahead to celebrate?

Now is your romper-tunity! For this simple look, I have a layered and pleated romper paired with some of my most favorite brown chunky heels and brown leather bag. I added in a more simple statement necklace that has pops of pink, silver and white to tie it all together. So easy, right? So just head to your closet, grab a romper you have been meaning to wear and pair it with a matching bag and shoe set and you are ready to hit the town. It will keep you cooler and minimize the number of things you need to put together. I don't want you melting while trying to assemble your ensemble!

I hope you stay cool as we wait patiently to get to snuggle weather! Be sure to leave me a comment and let me know what you decided to do with this romper-tunity to get out and about for the holiday weekend. Cheers, friends!
